Orange Service

Travel on replicas of our original 1903 Great Western liveried bogie carriages, with goods wagons and brake van attached, and watch the shunting at each end of the trip.

 The 'Vintage Trains' depart Llanfair Caereinion at 11:10 and 14:45, or from Welshpool at 13:05 and 16:20 (no return train available from Llanfair Caereinion).

Our other departues on the day will be hauled by one of our other steam locomotives, with passenger accommodation in our regular Austrian and Hungarian carriages.

Normal fares apply on all trains. (Member’s free travel not valid on the vintage trains)

OUR WELSH TEA TRAINS ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED, HOWEVER YOU MAY WISH TO CONSIDER OUR FISH AND CHIPS OR HOG ROAST TRAINS ON SELECTED AUGUST EVENINGS.

Return journey from Llanfair Caereinion to Welshpool, leaving Llanfair at 13:50, with Welsh sweet and savoury tea served at your seat in one direction. Full silver and table cloth service. Travel one way in our Austrian or African tea cars, and the other direction in one of our elegant Edwardian saloon carriages.

Special fares will apply on the 'Welsh Tea' train, but ordinary fares apply on our ordinary 'Yellow' service.

Fish & Chips Evening Train 3rd August 2019

Travel on the special evening train from Llanfair Caereinion; at Welshpool we will serve your choice of meal to enjoy on the return journey, with a pause at Castle Caereinion for a tub of delicious dairy ice cream.  Advance booking essential.

This special train will operate in addition to our daytime service.

Ordinary fares apply on our daytime service, but special fares will be applicable on the evening Fish & Chips train.

Hog Roast

Ham Radio Weekend

Over the weekend of 17th-18th August ham radio enthusiasts will be setting up their radio station at Llanfair Caereinion station.  Using the special call signal GB4 WLR, they will be broadcasting to the world.

The Ham Radio weekend is in conjunction with our orange Vintage Train timetable.

Fish & Chips Evening Train 24th August 2019

Teddy Bear Weekend

Bring your teddies, spot their friends in the woods along the line, and meet Big Ted for treats at Llanfair.

Children who bring a Teddy and a paying adult with them travel free!

Halloween

Llanfair Caereinion station and the train will be spookily decorated and the last train will return to Llanfair in eerie dusk.

Come in costume and join in the fun. Spot the ghosts and creatures haunting the railway line for a prize.

Normal fares apply on all trains, and we'll be running our Yellow Timetable.

7th/8th & 14th/15th & 21st/22nd of December. Trains leave Llanfair Caereinion frequently to take adults and children to meet Santa and receive a gift. Mince pies, mulled wine and fruit drinks are served on your return to Llanfair.
