Welsh Tea on the Train

Sorry, our Welsh Tea Trains are now fully booked, however you might be interested in our Fish and Chips trains?

Come and join us for a First Class ride and the chance to take Welsh tea and cake on the train, while enjoying our beautiful Powys scenery.

On two dates this Summer, the railway is offering the opportunity to ride one way in our elegant African First Class carriage and the other way in our cosy Austrian tea car.

We’ll be serving you a Welsh tea, with Caerphilly scones, Welsh cakes, bara brith and other local cakes. Plus a choice of teas.

As well as journeying one way in our tea car, you’ll enjoy the cool elegance of our African carriages on the other leg. Part of your journey will be in the First Class plush leather armchairs and our in-carriage steward will be happy to answer questions as you journey serenely through the rural landscape of mid Wales.

Trains depart Llanfair Caereinion station at 13.50, and will return to Llanfair Caereinion by 16.30.

Tickets are priced at £24 each; including the return journey to Welshpool. Discounted fares are not available on this train.

Passengers with a mobility disability are welcome to spend the full journey in the Austrian carriages as our African carriages are not wheelchair accessible. Accompanying guide dogs are permitted, but this train is not suitable for other dogs.
