2008 Special Events

If you would like to experience something different on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway then please read on.

We shall be operating extra trains during our Vintage Weekend (28 and 29 June), including demonstration freight trains and mixed trains (passenger train with goods wagons) featuring our replica Pickering carriages.

Our Annual Steam Gala (30 and 31 August) is a special weekend for the railway enthusiast, with all of our working engines in steam.  Our most intensive service of the year will operate over the two days, with sales stands and extra attractions to help pass the time.  The event also coincides with a "Garden Railways" exhibition nearby.

For the children, the ideal way to end the year is a visit from Santa.  He and his helpers will be on hand to bring the year to a happy conclusion.  Santa trains will operate on 13, 14, 20 and 21 December 2008.  Ideal for adults too!
