2012 Special Events

If you would like to experience something different on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway then please read on.

We shall be operating our replica Pickering carriages on extra trains on 26 & 27 May, 23 & 24 June, 21 & 22 July and 11 & 12 August 2012.  Leaving Llanfair Caereinion at 11.30 or 14.30, or from Welshpool at 12.45, these trains are scheduled to be hauled by GWR No. 823 'Countess' (subject to availability).  Ordinary fares apply on these trains.  See timetable page for more details.

Our Annual Steam Gala (1 & 2 September) is a special weekend, with all of our working engines in steam.  Our most intensive service of the year will operate over the Saturday and Sunday, with sales stands and extra attractions to help pass the time.  The event also coincides with a "Garden Railways" exhibition nearby.

For the children, the ideal way to end the year is a visit from Santa.  He and his helpers will be on hand to bring the year to a happy conclusion.  Ideal for adults too!  Santa trains operate from Llanfair Caereinion on 15, 16, 22 & 23 December.
